Fine Art Photography | Ivars Lenss

Welcome.  My name is Ivars Lenss.  I craft photographs.

My fascination with photography began in grade school, and continues to this day.  Though my career would take a turn into Information Technology, my passion for photography has never ceased.  I strive to achieve mastery of the art of crafting photographs.

I am recently retired and pursuing photography as my form of artistic expression.  I have been fortunate to live most of my life in the American southwest, where unique subjects for landscape photography are in abundance.

Today, I am based in Orange County, California having recently moved from the San Francisco Bay Area after pursuing my career there for many years.

My Photography Interests

Currently, landscapes and natural formations of the Big Sur coast, particularly Point Lobos, and the surreal landscape of Joshua Tree National Park.

Black-and-White

I am returning to the classic look of black & white.  The descriptive and interpretive characteristics of black and white versus color are distinct.  Color shows…. well, color.  By removing the descriptive nature of color, we interpret the essence of an image.

My photography projects

Point Lobos project — to photograph at Point Lobos in every season over several years.  After culling through thousands of images, I present a sample of them.

Joshua Tree project —  This project is ongoing.  Samples from this project are presented on this site.

Film and Slide scans – Over the years, a large collection of images on senior media has accumulated and begs for attention.  Digitizing these images is ongoing.

Enjoy the images and please leave a comment in the ‘Contacts’ section.  Thank you for visiting!
